Readeck for Android is a client app for Readeck, a read-it-later service. It is developed by Nate Eaton. This policy explains, plainly, how the app handles your data.
The app collects nothing. It has no backend of its own and no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking. It communicates only with the Readeck server you configure.
To work offline and keep you signed in, the app stores the following locally on your device:
This data stays on your device. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data, removes it.
The app sends data only to the Readeck server you configure — for example, to sign in, to fetch your bookmarks, and to save changes you make. Your authentication token is sent only to that server. We, the developers, operate no server and receive none of this data. Where your Readeck server is hosted, and how it handles your data, is governed by that server and its operator.
The app contains no advertising, no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting services, and no tracking of any kind. It does not phone home. Tapping a link to the project's source or documentation opens it in your browser; that is the only time the app reaches an address other than your Readeck server, and only at your explicit request.
Because the app collects no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, export, correct, or delete on your behalf. You control your data directly: on your device (uninstall the app or clear its data) and on your Readeck server, where your account and bookmarks live.
The standard release of the app communicates with your Readeck server over HTTPS. A separate beta build also permits plain HTTP, for use with servers that require it.
The app is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "last updated" date.
